Cigna Business Optimization Solutions Manager in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania


Role Description

We are looking for a self- driven, highly analytical, consultative, problem solver to join the Producer Compensation and Intelligence (PCI) team in Enterprise Sales Effectiveness.

This role will support the team through development and management of process and procedural improvements that optimize business results. The candidate must effectively collaborate and partner within and across organizational teams to develop solutions resolving issues impacting timeliness, cost and/or quality of business deliverables as well as provide general and project management support for the PCI team and Director of Compensation and Intelligence.

The PCI team works closely with Sales and the Producer Relations team to help drive growth and retention through strategic partnerships with broker and consultant (“producer”) partners. Specifically, this team focuses on producer supplemental compensation plan design and administration for healthcare and group benefits as well as producer reporting, analytics and market intelligence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify team and cross departmental inefficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Prioritize improvements based on estimated time to complete, level of effort required, business impact and cost
  • Support efforts to attain funding for proposed projects
  • Provide project management and implementation support for approved PCI projects
  • Manage portfolio project submissions including development of business case, presentation and overall support
  • Manage, coordinate and support implementation of team and cross-functional process improvements
  • Document issues including identification of root cause
  • Effectively coordinate SME’s and resources across teams and/or departments to develop workable solutions
  • Complete impact analysis prior to implementing change
  • Support PCI Management in the delivery of ongoing reporting, presentations and communications
  • Track and monitor team goals, data and report requests, priorities, responsible party, and delivery dates; provide weekly updates and inform leadership of risks or concerns with meeting agreed upon deliverables
  • Streamline and Document process/procedures (team and interdepartmental connections) utilizing Cigna approved documentation methodology
  • Lead analytical projects as well as provide technical and analysis support to team as needed
  • Effectively communicate information, updates, and/or change within and outside the department to all potentially impacted parties


Position Requirements

The ideal candidate is an organized individual who is detail oriented, knowledgeable of health & welfare benefits, an exceptional communicator, and collaborative in nature. Should have analytical knowledge and/or experience supporting an analytical, data-driven organization and experience optimizing business results as projects will be of this nature.

Experience/ Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ benefits experience is required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience leading analytical project work is required
  • Experience interfacing with IT is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel is required; working knowledge of Access is a plus
  • Three years’ experience managing projects and execution is required
  • Three years’ experience in requirements gathering, analysis and testing is required
  • Experience with workflow optimization is required
  • Experience working with benefits data is desired
  • Experience with Agile methodology a plus
  • Familiarity with functional and technical writing a plus
  • Basic knowledge of SQL is a plus
  • Knowledge of relational data structures is a plus
  • Knowledge of data extraction tools (e.g. Hyperion, Cognos tools, SPSS) is a plus
  • Knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview) is a plus
  • Consulting experience is a plus
